Title: Monochamus lying on sorghum
Size: 30cm × 38cm
Cover story: Zitong Song was inspired to create this traditional Chinese painting after seeing a monochamus sitting on sorghum in a field. Zitong once believed that insects were harmful because they eat plants, but now she realizes that insects and plants live together. There is balance in nature, and all kinds of life are connected in various ways; growth, death, and decomposition all maintain the harmony between living things.
Artist: Zitong Song, aged 8, is in Class 2 in Grade 2 at Hangzhou Tianchang Primary School. She loves animals, insects, painting and crafts.
