Professor Fengcai Zhu: China leads the EV-71 vaccine research and development

Human enterovirus 71 (EV71) is one of the main pathogens involved in infantile hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD). Prof. Fengcai Zhu from Jiangsu provincial center for disease prevention and control and his colleagues have completed the phase III evaluation of the EV71 vaccine for the first time globally, and found that EV71 vaccine provides high efficacy, satisfactory safety, and sustained immunogenicity.
