Xicheng Deng, MD, PhD

Xicheng Deng graduated from Xiangya Medical School, Central South University with MD and PhD degrees sequentially. He then trained at Fu Wai Hospital in Beijing as a visiting scholar in both clinical and experimental research and Geelong Hospital and Royal Children's Hospital in Australia as a clinical fellow. With keen interests in computerized congenital heart database and genetic aspects of congenital heart disease, he did his research on these topics for clinical master and PhD degrees, respectively. Clinically, he focuses on the surgical correction of complex congenital heart and thoracic disease with traditional and state of the art techniques including hybrid methods and plays an active role in charity programs for kids with congenital heart disease. As a cardiothoracic surgeon in an underdeveloped cardiac surgery setting with overseas training experience, he is also interested in the status quo and advancement of cardiothoracic surgical training in China and transverse comparison across the world. He is currently working as a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon at Hunan Children's Hospital.
